Can My Guardian Angel Leave My Side?
Have you ever felt unprotected? Like when something did not go the way you would have wanted, for example, and you wondered, “Is there any divine intervention or an angel of light to protect me?” Or “If I'm experiencing challenges, has my guardian angel left me or forgotten about me?”
First of all, it is important to emphasize that Guardian Angels, these Heavenly Protectors, do not abandon us. They are always willing to help us overcome any challenge, whether it’s an illness, a family disagreement, unemployment, or other problems that may come up along the way.
Angels are Spirits of Light, Blessed Souls, who have an affinity with those they protect and who, therefore, have accepted the noble mission of helping them comply with their Spiritual Agendas1 (the spiritual purpose with which we are born on Earth). That is why God grants each one of us the spiritual guidance of at least one Angel.
There are also Angels who are committed to watching over humanity, as we find in the earliest accounts from the Bible, in which we read about the divine presence of these friends protecting us spiritually.
One of the examples is in the Gospel of Jesus according to John 5:1‒9. The passage, known as “The Healing at the Pool of Bethesda,” recounts that at the Heavenly Father’s request,
“at certain times an angel of the Lord would go down into the pool and stir up the water, and whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had” (verse 4).
Who creates the distance?
Even though our Guardian Angel never abandons us, in some situations it is our behavior that makes it difficult for them to do their part. In the book Conversando com o seu Anjo da Guarda ― A Agenda Espiritual [Talking to Your Guardian Angel ― The Spiritual Agenda], written by Dr. Bezerra de Menezes (coordinator in the Spiritual World of the World Revolution of the Spirits of Light), through the psychography of Francisco de Assis Periotto, we find an important message from Brother Flexa Dourada (Spirit):
"Let’s not forget to ask for the help of the Guardian Angels. Let’s never stop doing so! When we forget these Heavenly Protectors, they cannot help us, because the necessary harmony with the Higher World has not been established. So they become mere companions, which is very sad both for them and for you. Let’s always ask for the protection of the Guardian Angels and they will make themselves felt through intuition, the heavenly inspiration, in private or in public."

We bring them closer to us, therefore, as we establish our connection with the Higher Spiritual World through our good thoughts, good words, and good actions―which make up the Triple Harmony with Jesus, as the Religion of Universal Love defines.
Prayer is crucial in this process, especially when we ask for their help, for it calms and strengthens us, helping us find the balance we need in order to take the best decisions.
Start with a morning prayer, a sincere conversation with your Guardian Angel before leaving home, and ask for intuition for a better day and the strength to face up to the challenges of that day.
Are my Guardian Angels with me even when I’m suffering?
Yes, they want to help us and comfort our hearts even more at times like these. When we are suffering, we may feel abandoned by divine providence, but we never are.
The Spirits of God are always working to recommend us, through intuition, the best path to follow; in some cases, they create situations and put people in our life who will lead us or help us solve our challenges; they give us good energy so we have more strength and determination; the Spirits of Light safeguard us against dangers that we don’t even imagine exist. But, as we have already said, we ourselves often fail to notice the work and presence of these dedicated friends.
Another point to consider is that challenges are not punishment from God. We are often unable to draw the suffering away from us because we need to learn from it and we may only understand it later, with the passing of time.
So we cannot give up! We should always seek strength from our Guardian Angels and be connected with them.
The President-Preacher of the Religion of God, of the Christ, and of the Holy Spirit2, José de Paiva Netto, teaches us in the JESUS ESTÁ CHEGANDO! [JESUS IS ARRIVING!] magazine, issue 129, in the subheading “Prayer and Its Real Effects”:
"Why, when we go to a temple to pray and ask for strength from God, do we come out stronger? If we go there to feel better it is because these good vibrations of spiritual health do exist and are manipulated by the good Spirits, or Guardian Angels. These vibrations are at our disposal, not only in the temples, which is why we have to know how to capture them in all environments, however bad they may be. In fact, the Great Temple is the world. We usually look for isolation to connect with the Spirits of God, but they are everywhere, at all times, even in the midst of the all the noise and confusion.”
May we know how to connect with our Angels so that we can get closer to them more and more. It is a daily task, but remember that you are not alone!
