Nowadays, we already know how important it is for children to receive proper development in order for them to become more responsible and conscientious adults and citizens. From very early on, individuals need to have contact with various areas of knowledge, such as mathematics, literature, science, languages, sports, art, and so many others.

There is, however, something that is also fundamental to work with from childhood and that will permeate all other learning, including directing the little ones to make good use of the faculties they have developed throughout life: good values and the practice of religiosity (which is not related to only one religion, but can and must be experienced by all of us).

+ The religiousness that is born with human beings

These values are Respect, Fraternity, Honesty, Love, and Solidarity. They were taught and experienced in their maximum expression by Jesus, the Ecumenical Christ, the Divine Statesman.

As proof that the Little Soldiers of God (as children are kindly called in the Religion of the Third Millennium1) are capable of understanding and absorbing the teachings of the Divine Master, below are three stories that surprise us with their simplicity.

These reports show how this knowledge makes a difference in how children behave on a day-to-day basis. Check them out!

“Mommy, you don’t have to cry. Everyone who goes to heaven comes back. I came back, didn’t I?”

Gabriel Estevão

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is always a difficult subject at any stage in life. Beatriz dealt with the matter quite naturally, because from the teachings she receives in the Religion of God, of the Christ, and of the Holy Spirit1 she understands that the spirit remains alive after the phenomenon of death.

“You can’t give up; don’t throw in the towel!"

It’s important to stress that children are capable of understanding everything; we just have to know how to talk to them and explain things with love and patience. In addition, dealing with matters such as the reality of the Spiritual World, life after death, or the loss of a loved one, for example, strengthens their spirits and helps them face up to the challenges of everyday life in a better way.

3This is also a way of caring for and protecting our little ones. The President-Preacher of the Religion of the Third Millennium, José de Paiva Netto, teaches us that:

"World stability begins in the hearts of children. To protect them is to believe in the future".

Gabriel Estevão

“Lord Jesus, thank you for this bread today!”

Taking good care of children is everyone’s job: for parents, siblings, educators, aunts and uncles, and society. Jesus made a strong recommendation in His Gospel according to Matthew 18:10 and 14:

“See to it that you do not despise one of these little ones, because I tell you, their angels in heaven always have access to my Heavenly Father. . . . In the same way, it is not the will of your Heavenly Father that one of these little ones should be lost.”

Therefore, let us not forget our role in giving advice, instructing, and guiding children, especially with regard to matters that strengthen the feelings and soul of each one of them.

This is something that is not only recommended, but is urgent and necessary, as we saw in the words of Christ. Spiritual education will be the indispensable structure for children to deal with the challenges they face at every stage in their lives (including when they are adults).

This is why one of the actions that the Religion of Universal Love recommends to families is the Prayer at Home, a weekly meeting between family members, friends, and neighbors for study, reflection, and prayer. This moment is called the Ecumenical Meeting of the New Commandment of Jesus at Home. See our step-by-step guide on how to hold one in your home.
