If you want to find out which Bible verses help us overcome difficult times, this article is for you.

“To whom shall we go?”

Perhaps you have asked yourself this question today or in recent days.

All of us, in different ways and to varying degrees, face challenges in life—whether in family, finances, work, emotions, or health. And in these moments, this question often arises with greater urgency.

The answer is found in the words of the Apostle Peter, recorded by John in the Holy Gospel of Jesus 6:68. After posing this question, Peter responds: You have the words of eternal life.

That is why we continually turn to the Words of Jesus to find verses that give us strength in difficult times, for only He carries the message that guides our steps along the right path.

The Path to Follow

The Psalmist declared: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a Light on my path” (Psalms 119:105). This guidance is indispensable to all spiritual and human beings, especially in the face of daily events reported by the media, which often create a sense of hopelessness, with no prospects for change or improvement.

In the Religion of God, of the Christ, and of the Holy Spirit, Jesus leads the way, as revealed by Brother André Luiz (Spirit). Indeed, the Divine Friend has never lied to us. By studying the Holy Scriptures, we come to understand the causes of such events and find comfort for our Souls, grounded in the certainty of victory and the affirmation of our capacity to contribute to the transformation of the world.

We will explore a few verses that offer such spiritual strength—verses that empower us to overcome any and all adversities.

They are called verses of strength, as we emphasized, because they provide exactly the vitality we need to move forward, facing life’s daily battles.

The Power of the Gospel and Peace of Heart

Consider the Gospel of the Beloved Master according to John 16:33, where Jesus said: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

What are “these things”? Everything He preached, especially through His actions. Notice what the Heavenly Thaumaturge is teaching us here: If we follow His teachings, we will experience true Peace in every moment of our lives.

But why is such Peace in the heart so important?

Let us continue with the Holy Gospel of Jesus, now according to Luke 23:34, where the Divine Resurrected One says: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” This well-known verse was spoken just before the crucifixion of the Divine Friend.

At that moment, Jesus had been arrested, judged, scourged, spat upon, mocked, and was being unjustly crucified. What was His reaction in the face of martyrdom and suffering? Forgiveness—a demonstration of Love toward His executioners. And why could He achieve such an extraordinary feat? Precisely because He carries True Peace in His Soul.

We Are Capable, Too!

You may now ask: “But that was Jesus! No one else is capable of such a deed.” Really?!

Consider the words of Christ Himself in His Gospel according to John 14:12:

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father, and you will remain on Earth.”

See? Jesus tells us that we possess within us the same spiritual capacities that He has within Himself. We only need to believe in His Power and do Good Deeds to unlock these potentials and achieve great accomplishments.

A striking example is found in the accounts of the Evangelist Luke in the Acts of the Apostles 7:60, when Stephen, the first Christian martyr, said: “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” Stephen was condemned to death by stoning for refusing to renounce his Faith in Jesus, and, at the height of his suffering, he prayed for the forgiveness of his oppressors.

That was an ordinary man, like us, replicating the example of Jesus Himself. We, too, can achieve what He accomplished! We just need to make use of what Brother Paiva Netto, President-Preacher of the Divine Religion, calls our greatest capital, as he writes in his article God, the Safe Foundation for Life on his blog (PaivaNetto.com):

Human beings’ greatest capital is their Accomplishing Faith and their unbeatable spirit when faced with the afflictions that still torment nations. To those who seek to anchor their lives in this sublime, safe harbor, I say, quite eloquently, that there is a Man at the helm: Jesus!”

Verses of Strength in Difficult Times

We took a brief journey through some verses of the Holy Scriptures and felt the strength they emanate. This strength is real and concrete, capable of helping us overcome any difficulty because it renews our Spirit, the true source of our power.

We now invite you, dear reader, to receive this great power daily, allowing it to help you overcome any adversity. Heed now the call of the Beloved Master in His Apocalypse 3:22: “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Conclusion

The verses of strength in difficult times presented here remind us that we are never alone during life’s struggles. Let us trust in Jesus and follow His example of courage.

May you, inspired by the lessons of the Christ of God, feel encouraged and resilient to triumph:

“In moments of sorrow, open and read the Holy Gospel-Apocalypse of the Beloved Master. Feel the Extraordinary Power of Jesus, and you will see that your Soul will become stronger and truly happy.” Paiva Netto
